This is an immaculate condition example of the Iconic German Luger. The Luger may have been as influential in military history as the equally famous American Colt 1911. The Pistol Parabellum 1908 abbreviated as P.08 used an almost flawless design. The design was an improvement of the 1893 Borchardt C-93 that featured a toggle locking recoil-operated system. Georg Luger designed the infamous pistol in 1898 with production starting in 1900. The first lugers where adopted by the Swiss in May 1900 who gained licenses to manufacture Luger at an arms factory in Bern. The Germans soon saw the potential of the luger and adopted it accordingly. The luger served as the primary sidearm for the German military through WW1 and WW2 until it was only partially replaced by the Walther P38. This example is a beautiful piece of history. Dated 1917 and manufactured by Erfurt it would have almost definitely been in the Trench’s of WW1. At some point is its life this luger has been Satin Chromed. This could well have been done if the pistol was brought back as a souvenir from the trenches. Undamaged grips and smooth working action. Complete with deactivation certificate.
