These are near mint condition examples of the Iconic Russian PPS-43. These examples are 1950s dated but are exactly the same as the WW2 version apart from the price. The PPS-43 was originally designed as a personal defense weapon for vehicle crews and reconnaissance units. Its use was extensive towards the end of WW2. It was created as a solution to the Red Army’s requirement. The Red Army had requested a compact, lightweight weapon with the same firepower and accuracy as their currently adopted PPsh41. It was also noted that it should be quicker and cheaper to manufacture as well as requiring less manpower to produce. This was due to the Red Army needing every last man to serve on the front lines. When the PPS-43 was designed it was planned that only 2.7 hours of machining were necessary instead of the previous 7.3 hours for the PPsh41. There was also a cut down of material, only requiring less that 50% steel usage. The weight went from the PPsh41s 13.9Kg to a far lighter 6.2kg. Due to these important cut downs the weapons manufacturers we able to improve production output from 135,000 to 350,000 units per month. The PPS-43 was a typical Russian design, Simple but incredibly effective and reliable. It remained in soviet forces until the late 1950s when production was finally stopped. Deactivated to new specification with some moving part.
