Immaculate Deactivated 6.5mm Vetterli

£495.00

Immaculate M1870/87/15 Vetterli.

The Vetterli Rifle was first produced in 1869 by the Swiss and then adopted by the Italians shortly after.

Originally the Vetterli rifle was a single shot 10.4mm rifle, but due to high demand it was updated prior to the First World War. It was given a 4 round box magazine for a greater rate of fire.

During 1915 many Vetterli rifles were re-chambered in 6.5mm the same round used in the Carcano rifle thus no longer deeming it Obsolete Calibre.

The reliability of the Mannlicher type barrel lining is still argued over today as the liner was only soldered in place and there were many recorded incidents past and present. These rifles were issued to troops which the Italian army felt would never see combat “for training or second line troops”

This Item is in wonderful condition for its age and is a wonderful piece of early Italian pre war history.

Complimented with a Smooth, Dry Firing Action.
