Extremely Rare WW1 Naval 1917 Dated Webley Mark 1 .455 Auto.
Webley’s first attempt at the creation of a magazine fed self loading pistol this pistol, chambered in the British army venerable .455 service cartridge, would be employed as a reserve weapon by pilots of the British royal flying corps before the advent of aircraft machine guns. While never finding acceptance with the British Army, many pistols were used as sidearms by British pilots and officers of the Royal navy providing excellent stopping power at short range. While few were produced this pistol helped cement the performance of self loading pistol with European Armies
This particular variant an incredibly rare naval service variant in very good condition. Showing little signs of wear this example also bears Webley Scott proof marking and comes complete with dry firing action
