This is an incredibly rare and immaculate condition WW2 German MG131. The MG131 was designed by Rheinmetall in 1938 and was produced from 1940 to 1945. It was designed to be utilized as either a Fixed (this example), flexible or turreted machine gun. Its large 13mm caliber easily out powered any other aircraft gun. The most comparable was the Breda 12.7mm or Browning .50 caliber. Although the calibers were not far off, the main advantage to the 13mm was its capability of being High Explosive. The other advantage the MG131 had over its other aircraft guns was its impressive weight, or lack of it thereof. Weighing 60% less than its main competition. Its small size and weight meant it was a suitable replacement for the 7.92 MG15. The MG131 was very successful and was installed in Meserschmitt BF109, Fw190, Ju88, Me 410, He 177 Greif Bomber, Junkers Ju 388 and many other aircraft. Fitted with a fixed fire solenoid system. A real beautiful piece of history. Complete with deactivation certificate.
