This is a near mint condition example of the iconic WW2 Japanese Arisaka Type 99 Rifle. The Type 99 was known as the toughest bolt action rifles ever made.  There is a huge variation in Type 99s. As the years went on and resources and time to manufacture arms became scarce, radical simplifications were applied. Late war examples like this one are known as ‘Last Ditch’ rifles. Last ditch rifles are known for the crudeness. They tend to feature a complete lack of finish, poorly finished woodwork, wooden but plates, simple battle sights, unfinished bolt handles, welded safety catches, short top wood work etc.  The Type 99 had several disadvantages. Its main was that due to its short size and lightweight, the recoil was tremendous especially since it fires the heavier 7.7m round. An interesting rifle! Complete with certificate.
