This is an exceptionally rare item. An immaculate condition Borchardt C-93 pistol. The C93 was a semi automatic pistol designed in 1893 by Hugo Borchardt. His design eventually led to the infamous P.08 luger. The Borchardt was based on a Maxim toggle bolt design that was adapted for a pistol caliber round. It fired a specifically designed 7.65 Borchardt cartridge. Around 3000 examples were produced by DWM and Loewe. It was the first mass produced semi automatic pistol.  Unfortunately due to its expensive and unwieldy design and powerful recoil the pistol was rejected from military use. Hugo Borchardt was asked to make changes to his design to make it more user friendly. He refused therefore leaving Georg Luger to make the requested improvements and as a result the P08 Luger was created. Action devoid of markings although still baring DRP patent stamps and fully rifled barrel. Deactivated with fully working action. Complete with deactivation certificate.
